Joseph Pilates did not trademark his work. When he died the courts determined that Pilates was a generic term. Classical Pilates stays true to what Joseph Pilates taught sticking to what has been passed on through his photos, videos and students. Classical Pilates holds the integrity of the system and order that he used. Contemporary Pilates continues to make changes to his system and his equipment that he spent a lifetime developing.
I use a variety of equipment:
Reformer
Cadillac
Tower
High chair
Wunda chair
Arm chair/baby chair
Ladder barrel
Spine corrector
Small barrel
Pedipole
Magic circle
Foot corrector
Toe corrector
Push up device
I have completed the Power Pilates Comprehensive Classical training, which includes 600 + hours of training, observing, self-practice and practice teaching. I continue to take continuing education workshops to keep my certification up to date.
Because of the nature of my studio, both from the variety of our equipment to the private and semi-private attention, I receive a lot of these special cases. Every case is unique, and I will work with you to find exactly what you need from our classes.
I have two options for scheduling. I recommend scheduling a standing appointment. You will have a reserved day and time on our schedule, however, if a conflict comes up, you can reschedule and make up the class. I do have a 24 hour cancellation policy.
The other option is to schedule as you go. With this option you work with me on my available times.
If you are ready to schedule your first class, call Chloe Konkus at (513) 800-8154.
To get the benefits of Pilates, you need to actually be doing Pilates. Unfortunately, many studios today use equipment like TRX, barre, and bosu, which though they might be fun, are not what Joseph Pilates taught.
Mat and reformer have an order. Joseph Pilates had an order to mat and reformer in order to properly warm up the body to prepare it for the next exercise.
Classical Pilates utilizes all the apparatus. The various apparatus are designed to lengthen, lift, open, strengthen, and stretch the body so you can better perform the mat and reformer work as well as your everyday activities.
Classical Pilates instructors go through rigorous training to know which exercise on which apparatus is right for you so you can progress and get stronger.
